"COD is a casual game." What exactly does this mean?

Hit the nail on the head right here. Competitive CoD has a completely different ruleset and map set. You’ll never see a competitive player with claymores at each door, a 725, shrouded by white phosphorous all over the map. Not because he doesn’t want to, but because the competitive rules ban stuff like that.

CoD to me has always just been a place where you can go to relax and kill some people. It’s like going to play pick up ball at the YMCA. You’re not there to feel like jordan in game 7, you just wanna play some basketball. Now imagine if the YMCA started ranking you based on basketball skill, and placed you into games. You’re no longer just casually playing pickup, you’re in a league. So now, you’re in a competitive setting but people still play with the loose pickup basketball rules; not an ideal mix. Sound familiar?
