Well, the original EQ audience is probably around 30-40 now. When EQ first came out you had lots of young people getting into it as well as older people.Lots of those who are still playing on the EQ private server probably started when they were teenagers.

It doesn't mean that no younger people can't jump into the game, back in the day lots of young people played EverQuest and other MMORPG's but the difference was that most games were a bit harder and made properly back then so you didn't have this "lazy" MMORPG for the lazy gamers so there wasn't really many alternatives, either do the grind or don't play.

VR is just trying to bring back some of that oldschool feeling, it doesn't matter that younger people can't get into it.

You could compare it to music for example. Certain genres have a vast history, and lots of people think that one era or style of producing music in a genre was better than most modern mainstream music in that same category. But lots of young people who like to research history and think critically sometimes get into these different productions and have a higher standard for quality than most people their age, even though these people weren't even born in the "golden era".
