Colleagues should stop asking how your weekend/days off were.

Also the random conversations that spawn about a really good recipe or movie are nice ways to break up the day. Some people don’t want or need that but most of us do.

As a manager, I always try to encourage almost anything my team tells me they’re interested in. DnD, guitar, video games, books, cooking, wheat paste street art, etc. Try to get little helpful gifts for them related to their interests. One of my team members was playing a couple gigs with an old band so got a little group to go. He had told us that none of his friends or family ever came to his shows so we wanted to change that. Can’t do anything like that if I don’t know about it. It’s totally you’re right to keep that part of your life private too but a lot of people don’t want to. Nothing wrong with either type of person.
