College-bound high school football player ruled ineligible because he's homeless

They are talking about him going to college not high school. The rules that require you to attend the school that’s in your district have nothing to do with college. It’s not even possible to force a person to only attend college in the district they live in, because every district doesn’t have a college zoned to it.

Only high schools are zoned that way to accommodate the amount of people who live in that area. Also it’s done to make sure tax dollars aren’t spent on a person who didn’t live and pay taxes there. Taxes are built into college costs and they have rules regarding you living out of state, which still don’t stop you from attending. Basically you pay out of state fees if you attend a university in a different state than the one you live in.
