College of Wooster students end sit-in that began after alleged racist remarks made on social media by student

I'm a Wooster student. I realize I'm not going to be popular in this post, but I feel like there's a lot of misinformation being spread here.

This guy was well-known on campus for promoting racist, homophobic, and sexist rhetoric, so the posts didn't surprise anyone who bothered to pay attention. There are other serious issues that a lot of the student body has with him, but because a lot of what I know is hearsay or confidential information, I'm going to have to leave it at that.

And at the end of the day, the sit-in wasn't just about him. A lot of us are pissed off that he hasn't been immediately expelled, but that's just a small part of it. I didn't organize the sit-in, so I don't have a whole lot of knowledge behind how it was planned, but there were multiple events that led to the sit-in. Like any college, sexual assault is a problem, and Title IX issues are never handled correctly. In fact, there are currently four Title IX cases open against the College right now. When walking up Beall Avenue (the main street on campus,) students are harassed by people in their cars. I've been sexually harassed multiple times. Some students have been physically targeted on multiple occasions. Just this academic year: * Today, a student had a 2L bottle of soda thrown at them. * A student was hit by a shot from a BB gun. * Student was hit by a shot from a paintball gun. These are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. And a lot of the time, those targeted are students of color. Wooster, OH isn't exactly a welcoming place if you're not white. But when students report it, they get asked if they provoked it or if it was gang-related.

PS I've seen threads on multiple subreddits saying we want a segregated campus, which is bullshit. Everyone on campus is welcome to come to meetings for any organization whatsoever.
