Colored mugs

In my college years, I was all about some pinterest-esque repurposing and crafting and what not.

Thought I was being creative and all that.

I thought about it from time to time, but if "a friend" gave me a gift, and I opened the box, and it was a fucking mug, and not only that, one they had "painted" like this to make it all artsy, I honestly would feel their "project" was a narcissistic egotistic portrayal of how awesome they think they are.

That shit is fine for a 9 year-old with a sharpie and a mug, that's how most people get their weird ass mug collections. Kids and other "well meaning" Hallmark gifts with generic mildly pleasant messages on them from that fat chick in Accounting whose husband is filing bankruptcy because she's so insecure she buys birthday gifts for everyone at work and other similarly inwardly selfish stunts under the guise of "being friendly" - which is why you are find yourself a woman in your 30s with an odd assortment of mugs with reprints of only mildly popular comics from Portland badly screen printed onto a fucking cup.

But you're fine with the odd one you get from your kid. Kid mugs, well hell, that's how any adult should acquire a mug.

They either receive them as a gift from a child, or they break the shit out of them after trying unsuccessfully to use them as a vessel for coconut rum, and break a bunch, so you head on over to goodwill and buy eleven for thirty-three cents; go home and run them through an auto-clave; you are SET on mugs for five years, or the next time you try to use mugs while under the influence of poor liquor choices.

So back to my original complaint. I used to be, technically an ADULT, and I would fucking paint shitty art on a CUP, as an adult, and then WRAP it, and PRESENT that as a GIFT to OTHER ADULTS.

Nice.

In closing, if you already bought some mugs at the charity/thrift shop to replace the last set you drunkenly broke, only then is it socially acceptable to fucking paint them. For your own amusement.

The End.
