Comcast Tech Seemingly Cut All our Coax Wires - any idea why?

It's annoying, but it's not something malicious, it's just a mix of company policy and performance stats.

  1. They're required to make sure your installation, including all your cable distribution components are up to date and up to spec; If they get another service call because you're having problems it's a negative on their performance stats.

  2. As you can see they did replace the connector on the cable to that room to ensure it was reliable; Because the work order is just to get the services working in the rooms you request them to be placed they aren't allowed to use the components or take the time to replace the splitters and other connectors.

  3. They are required to leave your distribution point well secured and in a fully functional state, so they have to remove any out of use components like your old splitters. They cut the connectors off because they're not in use anymore, would want to replace them anyways if you were going to use them.

It's basically a bunch of company policy designed to address the problem too many service calls resulting from junky old components on residential homes and people plugging stuff in themselves to move it to a different room; Back in the day when it was just for cable TV signal that didn't cause problems but now with more much more sensitive DOCSIS signals it happens all the time that someone decides to move their modem to another room and ends up having problems.
