Mount Olive is sooo boring, you don't want to live there. There is nothing interesting about that town.

Morristown is great, it has a mini-Manhattan vibe with lots of good bars and restaurants.

There's also the Jersey Shore which is great, obviously NYC, lots of great hiking all around north Jersey as others have said. If you're coming in August, the weather will be warm and it stays pretty nice right through October. You'll get a good feel for the seasons.
