This is completely untrue. Do you realize that Microsoft has international customers? If Microsoft is caught making "spyware for the NSA" then they lose businesses with the 200+ countries who are not the USA. They lose millions of customers who want to do business securely without the NSA evesdropping. Plus there's millions of American customers who know that any spyware developed for the NSA could be leaked, it could discovered by the Chinese or Russians and used against us.

Creating a product that is not trusted or secure is a great way to lose all your customers when you are a business like Microsoft who depends upon a perception of security and trust.
