really? thank you so much, i guess it seems sort of natural because i'm very careful about the little things that "out" a non-native. feels really great to finally have the work put in validated in some manner.

i'm basically self-taught, a testament to the wonders of the information age rather than any aptitude for learning. about 2 years ago i started learning japanese, kinda on and off of periods of intense study and then after burning out no study. but since i always kept using it daily in some manner (usually just browsing jp websites) i never really had to "re-learn" anything. now i just study a bit whenever i can, and make more of a point to read japanese every day.

probably spent as much time speculating on language, learning (in and of itself), even knowledge itself among other things (appearantly that's called epistemology. new words!) that i did actually studying japanese. it's likely the reason why i'm being so long-winded in this response. i don't think it was a complete waste of time, since i feel a deeper understanding of swedish and english. i think it also led to a methodology of sorts, when learning japanese. it's might have helped a lot more than i think.

i'd be hesitant to say i've "learned" japanese though, more like "learning" still, hehe. of course language is an endless learning process, but i'd say i still have a ways to go before having any confidence in my japanese. and i don't think any dunning-kruger is causing that :P

so you also learned english through the internet? that's awesome! i was always a lurker, so i didn't post things very often (even on websites that aren't as hostile to newcomers as 4chan). i have a hard time believing it's limited, at least not comprehension. i also had to take a second look to find anything off about your comment, and my layman's assessment is that it means that you're close to fluency, rather than far from it. "close" probably means a while though, it's a language after all. but that just makes the accomplishment of being fluent even more prestigious and satisfactory, if you're optimistic about it. :D

tl;dr i have too much free time, if you don't then this probably isn't worth your time D:

i'm sorry for writing such an incredibly long response, it's kind of a habit of mine. i get anxious about being too vague and end up obtuse. (´・ω・`)

best wishes!
