Community Summit Recruitment

5 years ago, I picked up the original Destiny PS4 bundle. I was stoked for that midnight release. My parents had recently gotten divorced so Destiny was an escape from real life for me. I still get goosebumps thinking about my first time I started up the game. None of my friends had a PS4, so I was flying solo for quite a while until I met some allies on Mars. These guys took me under their wing and trained me to take on The Vault of Glass. Some of my best memories are with these friends I made in vanilla Destiny. We were like peas in a pod. We had group chats, set up times to raid and take on Nightfalls. Destiny was quite literally my life at the time.

After The Taken King released, I purchased the newest PS4 Destiny bundle and I gave my best friend my old PS4 and an extra copy of Destiny, he was finally able to join me on my adventures. It’s around this time I got really invested in the game. From running multiple raids a day, to teaching others how to play, and carrying friends in the Trials of Osiris, my evenings were always booked with Destiny. I even ended up attending the wedding of the friend I met on Mars! Turns out we both live in Ohio. We’re good friends now and I have Bungie to thank for that.

Eventually, I met some more people while playing Trials who encouraged me to look into GuardianCon. I ended up saving up enough money each year to volunteer during both year 2, and year 3 of GuardianCon. It was a blast and I really wished I could’ve returned, but life has a funny way of making decisions for you sometimes and I wasn’t able to make it. It’s been a dream of mine to visit Bungie Studios. I have a love and respect for them that can’t quite be explained unless you’ve heard my full story.

To this day I still listen to the original soundtrack when I fall asleep because it brings me back to the nights when my friends and I would sit in orbit after a long raid, stay up late, taking about our lives, and supporting one another. I gained support and friendship from Destiny that pulled me out of a dark time in my life and this is my first time sharing my story.

TL;DR: My parents got divorced right before I got Destiny, I used the game as an escape and made multiple friends who have supported me in my life and pulled me out of a dark path. I want the chance to personally thank everyone at Bungie.
