Why is this community so Toxic? [META]

Agreed.

My grandparents and parents with they day jobs still grow their own corn, wheat, vegetables and fruits. They prepare them for long storage themselves. They have pigs, chickens and ducks. They slaughter them themselves, prepare cold cuts, sausages and other stuff.

I'm mentioning that because as a person who helped them a lot growing up I find it is crazy how many people here think they can grow their own food if they have no experience and no knowledge beforehand. They know nothing of soil preparation, natural and artificial fertilizers, pest control, planting and harvesting times, farm implements or a hundred other things you need to do take care of a farm. Things that are essential which can't be learned on the go.

And most of the prepping sites are useless for that. How many times do you need to read about canning? Or putting thins in Mylar bags? Or choosing whether to but and AK or an AR?
