I'll take a stab at this, but it requires a few questions. Specifically, have you and are you currently weight training? When trying to drop weight, you have to adjust your training to account for the lower energy levels from a calorie deficit, while attempting to hold onto as much muscle as possible. What this means is raising your lift intensity to a higher percentage of your one rep max and lowering your volume slightly (there is research that shows higher intensity work does a better job of maintaining muscle mass). Another key factor in maintaining muscle on a deficit is a high protein intake.
