Comparing Rohit Sharma's batting stats against SL-Aus and against rest of the teams (as an opener since 2013)

Now everyone will come in saying that if you remove the good performances of a player, they become shit.

Well, to those sages, and to the general public bored enough to open this thread, I would like to point out that if there is a clear pattern to the "good" performances of a player, a clear set of enabling conditions, based on weak bowling attacks and generally flat pitches, the accusation then becomes that the player can only thrive in that special combination of easy conditions, validated by this sort of data.

Another set of wizards will point out that Australia is a "strong" team. If you slice that average open, a level further than what OP has done, you see that his high average against Australia comes mainly from 2 series (out of the 4 he has played versus them since 2013). One of these series was the one in India where 300 was scored in almost every game. The other was the bilateral series in Australia, which again saw ridiculously high scores.

When the going is easy, Rohit is undoubtedly a monster. But there is also a clear set of dismissals from which you can deduce that his undoing is any lateral movement, or his special propensity for brainfades. For a complete list of his daft dismissals, refer to this post, specifically this list.

Rohit is undroppable from the LOI sides, but that average hides a grim story underneath, and we must be wary of inflating his value based on that high number.
