Compilation of arguments for and against Dynamic Queue, with rebuttals

Argument: Having to gather 5 people in order to play a ranked match with an emphasis on teamwork was too high of a hurdle for those wanting to play regularly.

Rebuttal: Then revamp Ranked 5s to include substitutes like pro-teams have. Boom. Problem drastically mitigated. Use the format being similar to pro circuits to in future seasons introduce an in-client Amateur League Circuit complete with its own tournaments. Thus people are encouraged to seek out teams and seek out subs, and conditions future pros for the format of the scene. You can also use the framework to build in more player incentives and events.

Argument: Dynamic Queue has, according to Riot, lowered toxicity independent of role selection.

Partial Rebuttal: Show us numbers. It would have to be pretty drastic to warrant total deletion of the queue. This can only be a minor benefit listed to make your decision seem correct and not showing numbers just makes it look like smokescreens.

Rebuttal: It was Solo Queue and Ranked 5s before, Riot should be able to change it back.

Rebuttal to Rebuttal: Ranked 5s already had long queue times and was already a mess when they removed it. It should not be reimplemented without adjustments. This is one of the reasons Riot believes Dynamic is better. It fixes (or at least mitigates) some of the old issues.

Argument: [Solo Queue] was a source of super high tension and burnout - it was all on you or you and your buddy.

Rebuttal: Wah, wah, wah. Get good scrub. You claimed earlier that you want ranked to emphasize building communication and teamwork skills. Solo Queue builds those skills just as good if not better than Dynamic because of the added challenge of uniting a team you don't know without voice chat. Dynamic Queue hurts the cause of that just as much as it helps as having voice chat only in your pre-made has the side effect of making you communicate less with those not in your group. Also Dynamic doesn't solve this issue at all for those playing solo or duo. In fact being the odd man out with a pre-made vs pre-mades can be even more stressful than solo queue ever was. What about the situation where the enemy pre-made gangs up on you, and so does the 'allied' pre-made?

Rebuttal: Individual skill should not be the only representation of your skill in League of Legends, the ladder system needs to incorporate the teamwork and strategics seen in the competitive scene.

Rebuttal to Rebuttal: Solo queue doing this worse than dynamic is a myth. Every pro will tell you that it's hard to solo carry a game these days. Teamwork is a part of this game and you need it to climb regardless of ladder format. Queuing with friends does not encourage or develop these skills any more than playing the same game without friends. Devaluing individual skill does not inherently add value to teamwork and emphasizing individual skill does not drastically devalue teamwork in a team game. Dynamic Queue isn't the solution to increasing the value of teamwork. All it does is make it unclear what your grade is grading. Looking at your Dynamic Rank there is no way to tell if you climbed with a team or alone. A better solution is revamping the ranked ladder system.

There's some input from me.
