Completely tone deaf

I've no idea how and if this works in the US, but out here parents can go to a judge to help deal with uncontrolable situations at home whereby the judge has options to "place" the kids much like child services could do. In emergencies and to get immediate help in case of aggression/violent behavior, an intervention by the cops would for sure be a path to get the kid in front of a judge who could decide to place the kid in either an open or close facility where they can get help and live for a couple of months in a controlled situation before the judge will revisit the case and seek a more permanent solution. Unfortunately the number of place in such institutions are severely limited, and it's typically only used "in the interest of the kid itself" so it's unlikely the judge will place kids there unless the situation is extremely volatile.
