I am very two faced when it comes to this topic, and I will admit it. I believe in using prison as a rehabilitation rather than a form of retribution... except for a couple people. There are some people in prison I know who I never want to see the light of day again. My family member of mine became “pen pals” with a prisoner and fell in love with him. She has been with him almost ten years. She holds hope that he is always soon getting out with his next plea (he recently was told by the court he has used all of his resources). He shot into a crowd of people trying to shoot is target, missed, and killed an unborn baby. If he ever does get out, I will move my family as far away as possible. I will cut ties with my entire family if it means protecting my wife and kids (some of my family supports the relationship). Never met him, never want to. Sometimes when it hits this close to home, it doesn’t matter if they are rehabilitated, I will never shake that mans hand.. I am willing to give it a try for others though!!!
