Concerns over going back to community college at the age of 25 for computer science

I'm 34 and also have a Bachelors degree in Psychology. After having spent the past ~7 years in HR and spefically in recruitment (I was one of those startup 'tech recruiters' that annoy developers on LinkedIn), I decided I wanted to do something different. Started a lot of self study, ended up doing freelance web dev. Then I decided to get serious and learn better ways of doing things (and also unlearn the bad habits I'd taught myself) and enrolled myself in community college to do a 'Programming' diploma. It's been great, I find it helps me with certain concepts I hadn't been able to teach myself but it's also chill enough for me to continue with my freelance work + do some self learning (which to be honest, is still required since this diploma really isn't going to teach me everything I want to know).

The college I'm in has a 'coop' program (for non-Canadians, that's basically a working term). The coop is optional and the student is responsible for getting the job themselves. I just got one at an enterprise organization! Started this past week and it's been great. It has been a bit overwhelming because I've never worked on a codebase this big before, just my own little projects but that's exactly what I wanted and needed.

To be honest, it kind of helps that I don't have to learn how to work with others and how to engage with a team of adults in a professional environment ON TOP of the programming/software work that I have to ramp up on. This is the advantage that you will have over other candidates and it's not a small thing. Especially these days with many companies still working remotely, hiring managers are responsible for teaching a newbie dev skills along with the soft skills they'll need to operate on their team. If you can come to the table with one of those requirements already fulfilled, you've made their job easier.

I realize I tend to write a lot but that's my style, sorry. Feel free to ask me questions here or via DM.
