Confederate monument downtown in the works for being removed!

I completely agree with your points. I don’t know if we’re in the same page politically, maybe we are, regardless, it doesn’t matter.

I am a southerner and a republican and am tired of all these “hollier than thou” people calling me a racist or bigot. Calling someone a racist is kind of a big deal and highly offensive.

The confederate flag shouldn’t be the flag of any state or on any federal land but if people want to buy the flag, then I don’t see why they can’t, it’s a free country. I find the antifa and blm symbols offensive but I would never tell anyone that they can’t wear them or fly the banners. This is America, do what you want.

Also tired of people thinking that the entire confederacy was full of slave owning racists. The vast majority of those that fought for the confederacy were kids that didn’t want to fight nor owned slaves. The slave owners didn’t even fight because of the 20 negro law.. these kids who didn’t want to fight deserve memorials and burial grounds. I agree, not in the center of town, but it was a bloody war and many southerns died and had their homes and families burned to the ground. I think we southerners should be allowed to pay some respect to our ancestors, even though some were bad people or simply just misguided. Racism and slavery is not unique to America, it has happened around the globe and still happens to this day. I don’t know why people don’t think about the people still enslaved and fight for them instead of worrying about a 150 year old cemetery or memorial. Plus, it’s history, it reminds us of our wrongs and that we need to keep moving forward, NOT bicker over a piece of stone that most people don’t even realize what it is.
