Congratulations, /r/bodybuilding! You are Subreddit of the Day!

I did not know this sub existed. I got into body building / strength training a couple years ago. Stopped for a while due to an injury from a 250lb overhead press attempt. I started back up again in January lifting a pretty steady 3-5 days a week minus some time off here and there due to sickness or work.

My question is I’m still pretty over weight, should I continue to build muscle and not worry about cutting or should I stop strength for now and focus on cutting weight? I’m 5’7 230lbs. On a heavy set I squat 205x4, leg press 500x3, bench 190x2, curl 95x3. I really enjoy strength training and I have added in cardio now on top of it to cut some, it is just confusing to see my strength gain substantially but the body weight not change much at all.

I have always heard it is easier to build muscle from fat but I’m not sure if that is indeed correct. I suppose my preference is strength over looks but I would like the look as well. If this is the wrong sub to ask about this my bad I’m just a normie that’s gotten hooked.
