Connecticut woman mistaken for transgender and harassed in Walmart bathroom

I did this. I worked for the state and worked in different locations during a week. On my second trips to a big state ran facility I was walking to the bathroom and texting. I had know the general area of the bathroom down this hall and saw the single sign outside of the bathroom doors, which had symbol for the male on the right and a female on the left. It was a bathroom entrance where you walk into a opening and theres a door to the right and one to the left. Assuming that sign on the wall indicating where the bathrooms were I walked to the left. When I got it, walked to the other side of the bathroom looking for the urinals, when I realized that the sign out on the wall and the actual bathroom doors were mismatched. There were about 6 stalls and all but the one on the end was being used. Someone flushed and I panicked and darted into the stall and just sat....and sat....and sat.....waiting for the bathroom to clear out and hoping no one saw there was a dude in the ladies room and reported me and I would get fired or end up on a list. I must say ladies, some of the noises I heard in there....you let it rip with no shame. But eventually, after about 20 minutes which seemed like an eternity, I heard the bathroom was finally empty and made a run for the door and across to the mens room because I held my piss the whole time. I didn't want to whip my dick out and take a leak, that felt like it would have been worse. So that made it worse sitting there freaking out and having to piss really bad.

I ended up going back to my department and actually told my manager because I kept thinking what if someone saw that and told security and they pull up video. I figured just be honest and get ahead of it. Luckily my manager laughed his ass off at me and nothing happened, so I apparently went undetected. I realize in hindsight the decision to go in the stall and sit was probably the worst of the choices I could have made, but whatever. Lesson learned and it made for a good story.
