A Conservative MP had been criticised by Marcus Rashford for saying it was a "parent's job to feed their children".

"Why aren't you making sure children don't starve?"

"That's the parents job - if the parents can't afford to feed their children then it's their fault the child is starving and the government shouldn't be stepping in"

How is not blaming the parents? And keep in mind that the number of reasons that a family could be struggling financially is huge, and this government has done almost everything they can over the part decade to make life harder for poor people. A major injury/disability, the death of a spouse, a major economic crisis, shitty zero hour minimum wage contracts, a global pandemic with an utterly incompetent buffoon as prime minister. Any of those reasons could throw a family into poverty and this guy (and his entire party) just don't care.
