"I was a conservative Republican before I attended college, but I came out a progressive socialist."

You don't know anything about me.

Here is a little biography. I grew up in the back woods of Appalachia - I remember taking baths outside in on galvanized iron wash tub that my dad filled with cold water from the spring. My dad was a coal miner, who was frequently laid off or on strike. I went to public grade school with the other poor kids from Appalachia.

I went to an 'elite' catholic high school, were I was bullied by the elite kids.

I joined the navy after highschool and fought two wars for the good old US of A. I began to question whether I was fighting for the right side when i found myself fighting on the side of a Muslim ethic faction against a Christian ethnicity faction.

I left the military and studied to be a Catholic priest, but I was kicked out of the seminary for telling them something they did not want to hear.

I have multiple degrees in philosophy from multiple reputable institutions. I'm published in good journals. I'm not exactly the kind of guy to be swayed by what everybody around me is thinking.

You conservative cup cakes need to understand that not everybody is subject to the same kind of brain washing that you are. You are so used to believing what people in authority tell you, that you just can't imagine some people are actually free thinkers. The good news is, your 'conservativism' is not a terminal condition. You can educate yourself like I did.
