Rhyming a word with itself is fine. Some of the absolute best artists, who use tricks like parallelism, assonance, and strong meter--just objectively better lyricists than most of the music that we would consider good--will often rhyme words with themselves. It's actually odd how it seems every writer who uses those advanced techniques also casually rhyme words with themselves.

To be clear, Kid Rock's line sucks. Usually when you rhyme a word with itself in quick succession like that, the purpose is to have a jarring change in meaning. "Our parents telling us so many things, but we were smoking funny things," for example. Needs a little work, but the point is rhyming a word with itself works if you know what you're doing. Which Kid Rock doesn't.
