Do you consider women who doctor their photos for dating apps to be catfishing?

An example of what I consider catfishing...About 15 years ago, I knew a woman who was middle-aged, very obese, and a heavy smoker. She was also mentally ill. For online dating, she posted a pic of herself from when she was about 25 y/o and looked very, very different. The guy, probably at least 10 years younger than her, showed up for the hook up. She could see he was shocked. She invited him to make out and about a minute into it he apologized, said he couldn't go any further, and left. She was hurt by his response. But my sympathy was with the guy! To present an appearance that's not at all what you look like, even though it was once her, is presenting a fake identity. It had him believing she was someone she wasn't, which to me is what being catfished means. She didn't create an entire fake persona, but the impact of either is the same -- making someone think you're a different person than you are. And if you look that different from a pic that other people will believe is accurately representing you, that's what's happening.
