Considering getting into Warcraft in college...

I'll tell you my story about WoW. Ever since vanilla, I played off and on on my friend's account. I finally got my own right before Wrath was released. Last year, I entered college.

I was at Virginia Tech and my schedule was a joke. It was extra credit if you went to class (yes, I'm serious; 2 points added to your class grade). This is when I started playing very heavily. I leveled a lot of my characters to max level and mained on my hunter and started PvPing heavily. This is how I spent my days: Wake up, get food, watch Netflix while eating then play WoW for the rest of the day. Once I got tired, I went out and partied/hung out with the guys in my fraternity. It was the best year of my life. Got a 3.1 GPA doing barely any work and goofing off all day.

I transferred to Cornell this year. Jeez did that change everything. I'm in the Hotel School, and it's a very small community, and going to class is mandatory. If I skip more than 3 classes in any of my classes, my grade drops heavily. The course load is extremely tough as well. I also decided to affiliate with Cornell's chapter of the fraternity I joined at Tech. I also started dating a girl and we're extremely close (besides the fact that she's back home in MA and I'm here in NY). Because I'm in a relationship, I don't really have a desire to go out and party, and I'd much rather stay in on the weekends and Skype with her.

So now that I'm at Cornell, I don't have much free time (besides on the weekends) to play WoW. I still get my weekly PvP cap and have time to level alts, but it's not as much time as I got to play at Tech. While busting my ass last semester, I managed to get a 2.8 GPA... pathetic, I know. Luckily, this semester's work load isn't as tough, so I'm hoping my GPA will bump up.

All in all, you just need to see if you'll have time to play WoW. Just like /u/roberh said, you need to "choose two" in the triangle for college. I've decided to not have much of a social life in order to get good grades, and play WoW. I barely get any sleep and I don't have a social life. I mean, there are days where I'm like, I'm gonna go to the fraternity house and hang with the guys rather than play WoW.... but the majority of the time, it's WoW. It becomes your life man. So many hours get put into that game and when you tell yourself it's time to deactivate your account, it's physically impossible (exaggeration) to do.

Let me know if you end up getting into it! My bnet is Kmob34#1779 I play on Alleria-US on Alliance and I'm always down to level alts, do mount runs, do dungeons, PvP, etc.
