Conspiracy Theory Topics

Pick a few completely accepted and proven facts that, at the time, were perceived as conspiracy theories. Then throw in some ones that weren't real but people reacted the exact same to as the ones that turned out true. Examples from long ago leading up to some modern ones would probably deliver the biggest impact.

Government spy and data collection programs. The black triangular shaped stealth bomber (that for some reason nobody seems to attribute to the tons of black triangle ufo sightings before they declassified it). Government tests like the syphilis ones or lsd ones. False flags to start wars like gulf of tonkin. Project Northwoods is always good. Komodo dragons were finally discovered to be real like 100ish years ago I believe. Gorillas are a decent cryptid one. The giant birds in south america. A few examples of how old time conspiracies also would be wildly wrong, they aren't a new phenomenon. Beast of Gevaudan I believe is a good one that is believed now to have been a lion let loose in france at a time (and part of the world) where they didn't know what lions were. Nat geos got a nice article on it. The pope who was elected in 999 AD was thought to be of satan & to have some kinda decapitated robot head cause he helped advance science and people were scared around the year 1000 of the end of the world.

If you wanna go real ancient, a guy named Lucricious wrote a pretty short book called On The Nature Of Things in the year 4 that talks about a lot of very proven things (like atoms and chemical structures) before "science" was really looked at in a positive light. He discusses humans views of science and of religion and the nature of belief and learning. How cultures can widely believe things to be true that aren't or widely disbelieve things that are indeed true. Very pertinent to conspiracy theories and where we are today despite it being written 2k years ago.
