Constant flashing in eyes but retina is fine?

Over a year ago, I began to see tiny bright patches, black dots, and white dots in my vision once in a while. Then I started getting migraines with aura about once every week, but with no headache pain. I had my eyes checked three times, once by an ophthalmologist, all came back as normal. It was all chalked up to be migraines.

It has changed and worsened over the past three months. I see flashes every day now. Bright white flashes of light around the edges of my peripheral vision. They look somewhat like bubbling crescent moons, hugging the farthest edges of my field of vision. What's strangest is it flashes/pulses with my heartbeat. It will pulse for about two to three seconds, and then disappear. I notice it multiple times every night when I lie down to sleep, and sometimes when I laugh or cough. Sometimes it's not associated with any movement or posture in particular. It looks very different from the starburst/fireworks/sparkle effect that vitreous tugging causes for me. It also looks nothing like the scintillating scotoma that occurs during a migraine. No signs of PVD, floaters, or other vision or neurological changes beyond a huge increase in migraines with aura.

I've been referred to a retinal specialist, and back to the same ophthalmologist. I'm going to try to push for some kind of imaging to be done. If it's brushed off as migraine again, I'm seeking a second opinion just to be sure. I've had unprovoked blood clots before, and I've freaked myself out and read too many cases of patients seeing flashes getting serious diagnoses.

I'll write a follow up in this thread when I have more updates, in case it helps someone. It could take a few weeks or months.
