Consumer rights and Razer's recent 50% off sale

However quickly something runs out of stock is in most cases completely arbitrary and there is little Razer can do to stop it from happening.

Uh actually, there is. In fact, it's stated in the ACCC blurb quoted above in the ORIGINAL POST: "in breach of ACL unless you promptly offer a 'rain check', an acceptable substitute product or take other corrective action."

Demand is so high that even competing companies with price matching run out of stock too. Almost the only reason why your post is gaining any traction is because it's attracted the "Razer is a bad company" circlejerk.

But they don't go around advertising "ALL" peripherals 50% off and then stocks run out before people can reach the product page, then redirect people to be notified when the product is back in full price.

This promotion is valid for the following periods, or while supplies last. In the event where any particular product is out of stock, Razer shall not be liable to any customers for their failure to purchase the product, even if the purchases were made within the promotional period.

"While supplies last", like I said before in my ORIGINAL POST, is no indication of how little stock there is, that it will be out before most people even have a chance at attempting a purchase.

Stocks are finite and are expected to go fast.

Still not an indication of actually how limited the stock is. The only timeframe they have specified is 24 hours.

They clearly fucking stated that the promotion is only viable while supplies last. They are not liable to hold the sale open for any amount of time because they did not specify that it would be definitely open for a period of time. Are you going to saunter into a Best Buy Black Friday sale 23 hours after it started and complain that everything's out of stock too? By making a sale for Razer you agree to their conditions................. I want to see you actually go to a lawyer firm and make a case out of this, let's see how far you get.

As someone who puts such emphasis on reading comprehension, I would like to point out that I have discussed this in terms of AUSTRALIAN LAW. Australian companies do not do blanket advertising that is misleading to consumers.

As for your strawman of an example, do you think it's fair to walk into a shopping centre 5 minutes after the black friday sale started (because the security guard forgot to open doors) with a thousand other people only to find everything is already bought out except for some soiled vaccuum cleaners and refurbished food processors?
