So hypothetical... what happens to me if I see this happening before me. If I see a grown man detain a child like this. If I determine that I can safely detain the grown-man, inform him that I am detaining him, and why, explain to him that he I will not harm him. The child gets away, and I start running away before I can be identified.

I dunno. This is in lala-land of imagination. But I don't know what I'd do if I saw this first hand. I might do the above and wind up getting shot anyway. Fuck what the hell are we supposed to do when we see shit like this as citizens? Like is this a legitimate way to de-escalate? I know if that adult has friends nearby, this is impossible. I am imagining seeing this happen with little to no bystanders. No one gets hurt, including the child.

My blood boils and my heart is breaking watching and listening to this.
