Cop told my friends and I “don’t do it” when entering the MFL

That's ridiculous. When my wife and I were shopping for houses we happened to pass a cop walking a beat. Given that we were moving out from a well-known drug corner (in DC) I figured I'd ask the cop whether this block had any similar reputation. She was a sergeant so I figured she might know something.

Her advice? Get a gun.

Practically, that was the least useful, most reactionary information possible. She didn't tell us anything actionable about the block we live on (not dangerous at all, no violent crimes in five years), and the advice to 'buy a gun' is completely worthless for things like nuisance crime.

Sometimes cops are just full of shit. Ride the damn train.
