Cops of Reddit, what situation did you respond too, only to find out it was the biggest waste of time ever?

I was the dumb caller.

It was 2010 in North Carolina, and I had tried marijuana for the first time with a friend and was high as balls, so we convinced our RA we were drunk and needed him to take us to Wendy's so we wouldn't cause an accident. It worked.

So after placing our orders we are just chilling by the counter waiting on that yummy goodness when some little Asian guy walks in. He looks like the typical Cool Honda Bro: button up w/popped collar, kahki shorts with a gun tucked in the back waistband, flip flops....oh shit, gun?!? Yeah, he just had it tucked into the back of his pants all willy nilly.

Being stoned as fuck, I assumed one would never carry a gun this way unless they we're fixing to rob the joint, so naturally I flipped a shit and ran out of the store. My friend was on the same wavelength as he saw it the same time I did. We go running back to our RA's minivan. I straight dive into the backseat for cover, because in my mind this little dude thinks we're gonna call the cops (we are) and is gonna come out any moment now to kills us.

My friend calls the sheriff on speaker phone. He frantically explains the situation: "I was in Wendy's and there is a man in there with a gun I think he wants to rob the place". is he making threats? No. Was he waiving the gun around or brandishing it? No, he wasn't brandishing it. Just tucked in his pants. Sir, open carry is not illegal in North Carolina. Oh."

That ended the call, we went back for our food, no one was robbed, and we learned an important lesson about gun laws.
