Cops take seized SUV for joyride; owner tracks car, locks them inside for 3 hrs

You have too much faith in the criminal justice system. They'd probably stack as many charges as they could on you, threaten you with like 15 years if you take it to trial. And then offer you a plea deal for a couple of years/probation that they know you won't refuse, just due to the alternative.

I mean it's something like ~95% of convictions are the result of plea deals. A non-insignificant portion of those ~95% are innocent people, who thought that taking the plea deal was a better option compared to risking the full sentence if they went to trial and lost.

If you did take it to trial and the judge thinks you're wasting his time by pretending to not know what you were doing, good luck.
