Corey Mills - Cheerleader [Hip/hop] (2015)

Corey Mills

A very spiritual man of God, Corey Mills is a young Christian minister who seems to have America's youth wrapped around his music. Genre: Christian Hip Hop. It may seem like his method of drawing souls in to Christ is skeptical, but his music speaks for itself.

Corey Mills was born in Helena/ West-Helena, Arkansas by Carla Mills and Carlos Williams in February 26, 1989. There, he lived for the first twelve years of his life. At the age of eight, Mills began writing poetry, and further developed those skills as he grew older. After submitting many contests for writing, Mills was noticed by many people and companies after while consistently being nominated as best poet of his age in the USA. During his teenage years, he was offered the opportunity to move to England for his skill in writing; he would receive a publishing contract. However, he turn every offer down. His explanation was that he did not understand what his gift meant at that time.
As Corey Mills grew older, he began experimenting in the genre of rap when he moved to Tunica, Mississippi. He stated that his peers inspired him to give it a try after reading some of his work. So he did. At the age of eighteen, Mills became a Christian when he moved to Memphis, Tennessee. His walk with God started in the USA struggle of the 2008 recession period. Accordingly, his faith in and knowledge of God through the Spirit (he claims) and the Scriptures expanded beyond what he thought was possible. Things got better for him.
In 2009, Corey Mills started with an experiment he had never heard of- Christian Rap- with a friend Trentiss Wade, who made instrumentals for Mills. One month after the completion of the album, He released his first unofficial album -'Inhale the Word of God'- within his hometown, Tunica, MS, then spread to Memphis, TN, and Arkansas; later, his music spread through many radio stations. People loved his music, and demanded more. Mills then received offers to go on tour and become a part of music labels. Again, He denied every offer. His explanation was that of when he was a young child, "I didn't understand the gift, nor the possibilities that I was offered." Mills later unofficially released his first mix-tape 'The Beginning Mix-tape vol. 1' where he utilized some of the instrumentals made famous by artists such as Roscoe Dash, Waka Flocka Flame and Young Jeezy. During that time, Mills had become an associate minister for Commerce Boulevard Christian Church under the leadership of Pastor Evelyn Hubbard- which is in Robinsonville, Mississippi. He had also become a part of the Tunica Gospel Choir, which appeared on Bobby Jones Gospel show on the Word Network. After releasing the mix-tape, Corey Mills began his third project ‘The Blood of Jesus Cleanses’. While he made a few songs for the album- recorded by Nothing-But-Love Records in Tunica, Mississippi, he never completed the album. Mills moved to Orange Beach, Alabama in February, 2012 where he began writing more contemporary and Traditional/Soul Gospel. He moved to Pensacola, Florida in April of 2013, and there he still resides.
As a Floridian, Corey wrote, composed, and produced the singles 'Proposal'- released March 24, 2014- and 'You Will Know'- released April 8, 2014. He recently released an Extended Play album titled 'Proposal'- released on November 20, 2014- after the name of his first officially released single. Mills is thrilled to let us know that this album may be the first and last album that he uses a mobile phone to record. Yes, you heard it correctly! He used a mobile phone to record his vocals for every song on the EP 'Proposal' and other additional software. Read more on Last.fm.
