The young black kids in Chicago who are parts of gangs due to systemic violence and institutional racism are way more brave. Especially with their life expectancy. But Chicago cops are also some of the most despicable on the planet. I know cops sometimes lose their lives in the line of "duty" (I think any death is a tragedy but do not consider what cops do to be dutiful) but they're legit some of the most protected people on the planet. There is nothing brave about being a cop unless you're a whistleblower who risks their reputation and lives to call out police corruption.

I am not telling others they shouldn't be friends with cops, though. Everybody has their own moral compass. I just always have a side eye on people who are cool with it. But you do you.
