Cornel West said while he agrees with some of Karl Marx’s views, like the critique of predatory capitalism, he can’t ignore how he overlooks the lack of urgency against white supremacy in his works.

This is stupid. The fact that he thinks Marx was critiquing 'predatory capitalism' indicates to me he has absolutely no idea what he is talking about, no familiarity with Marx's work, let alone the writings dealing with abolitionism and the US... Also, overlooks the lack of urgency against white supremacy? How am I supposed to parse that? There is an urgency against white supremacy that Marx overlooks? Huh? If you are developing historical materialism and a materilaist understanding of the social base of production, you wouldn't turn around and be an idealist and focus on an ideologic critique using a term that would be anachronistic, would you? Cornell West might be an engaging protestant minister with oratory skill, but just like that time he made a hip hop album, he doesn't seem to know when he is out of his elememt.
