Coronavirus: Can tech allay the dangers of the Bay Area office of the future?

When I worked as a receptionist at a medium sized tech company, I had bowls of candy (with lids and spoons) on my desk. Not my choice to put them there. Most people used the spoon to dispense the candy (M&M's, Skittles, etc.). But sometimes someone would just stick their fingers inside. It would usually be a higher level manager or executive, and they'd usually be talking to someone (either in person or on headset) when they ignored the spoon and jammed their fingers in the jar, so it was difficult for me to tell them to use the spoon. The spoon literally was in the jar already too. As a germaphobe, this pained me. Anyway, I eventually quit that job and moved on to a job where I got coughed and sneezed on by children instead.
