Coronavirus Megathread B.1.621 - counts, lockdowns, vaccines, borders, thoughts, social media, and anything related

My mate is studying, but to pay his bills, he's working in traffic management. The company he works for has been engaged for some projects (upgrading freeways etc.) and when the first round of restrictions that made everyone besides construction go home, his company initially told all the employees that they would be sent home as they are not considered "construction", but, then they advised that they were in fact "construction" and continued on working without skipping a beat. Last night, that same company sent a message to all the employees stating that they would not be able to work for the next 2 weeks as their work would be classified as "construction", but this morning, they were advised that they are in fact doing "essential maintenance" and hence will continue to work. Absolute joke.
