The Italian government are certainly taking it seriously, dunno if the UK are though. If they took it serious, travel to badly affected areas would have stopped a long time ago, and quarantine would be mandatory after returning from there weather you showed symptoms or not. Apparently in the USA it's near impossible to get tested for it because they only test you if they are already fairly sure you have it, and you have Trump going on TV saying he "has a hunch" it's not as serious as it seems. Trump and Boris are cut from the same cloth. They won't risk a few months of economic slowdown to stop a potentially lethal virus until they absolutely have to.
