Could Inguinal Hernia Surgery Cause Low Sperm Count?

Interesting. We tried to bring it up to a couple of doctors and they just shut it down right away and said that was highly unlikely. But from everything I’ve read, it is a very real possibility. They estimate that it happens in approximately 1-2% of hernia surgeries, but they also think that number is underreported because the vast majority of men who undergo inguinal hernia surgery are past the age of 50, and are typically not trying to have kids at that point, so they would never know or report it.

I also found out that if you’ve had hernia surgery on both sides, you are more likely to experience decreased fertility.

Here is a really good article I found the other day. Lots of information in this: https://bjui-journals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1046/j.1464-410X.2002.02844.x
