Could VR be helpful for hockey players, specifically defensemen?

I think it would be an expensive experiment, and maybe not as popular as it would sound. Hockey is chaos/jazz, almost everything is improv. There are set face off plays etc, but it's really hard to get everyone on both teams to be where they should be. A large percentage of the time players are just absorbing and reacting on instinct, so I guess if you could find things that depend on muscle memory.

Also a large draw to hockey is the actual ice skating, the sounds and smells associated with it. You can stick handle all day in your basement (giggity) but unless you practice it with your feet moving in ice skates it only goes so far. I could see most guys deciding against it if it cuts into ice time.
