Do countries other than the US have history classes akin to US History?

German here. You get a rough world history, some focus on the Napoleonic wars for example. Another focus is the way to German unity from 1848 onwards but by far the biggest focus (multiple times during the school career to ensure everyone understood it) is the Nazi era. I don't think there are many people in Germany who didn't visit a former concentration camp site or other memorials of the terror. I think this is the most extensive part in history lessons, for all the good reasons. When I ended my school time the cold war was also important while it's end and German reunification didn't play an important role. I am sure this changed by now, but when I went to school reunification was rather fresh so only to the end of my school time then-new history books featured it. My memory might be wrong on this however as I'm sure it was talked about a lot in politics lessons.
