This Country Belongs to All of Us, Not Just the Billionaire Class. "We must launch a political revolution which engages millions of Americans from all walks of life in the struggle for real change."

Dude, I just saw the Big Lebowski last night and read that as:

"Dude, that's like... Your opinion man" and silently chuckled.

The USPS isn't a fair example as pre-1975 or so I think it was well funded and completely supported itself offering exceptional customer service and was considered a fantastic place to work.

Post 1975, newly imposed management derailed it's progress and actually made it a terrible place to work, disenfranchising it's employees. I would argue that sans that management change the term "Going postal" would never have existed in the terms it does today as pre-1975 the post office may as well have been Google in terms of employee retention and relative job happiness.

Then, When the George W. Withdrew the USPS's savings and re-directed that money elsewhere (About as illegal as Frank Underwoods redirecting of funds from FEMA to his own pet projects) it continued to devalue the service as a whole and now you have the shambles it is today, which is tragically unfortunate.

Volunteerism sounds optimistic, like... naively optimistic. It literally sounds like saying if you jump off the cliff, something or someone will manifest and save you before you hit the ground.

As for examples, I would again re-iterate the classroom without a teacher example which can be functionally observed at any time, almost anywhere by simply visiting a school or using your memory to recall such an occasion from your past.

Currently, despite all the idealism being thrown around people still have tendency to allow Might makes Right mentality, and one of the few things that prevents the immediately stronger from taking advantage of the immediately weaker is in fact strong leadership. And you can witness this in the workplace and at schools as co-employees and students will bully and intimidate each other so long as there is no teacher or capable management within view to dissuade them from their actions.

A leader is not necessarily someone who tells you what to do, but allows for a comfortable medium in which to discuss ideas and possible outcomes and either has the respect or the power to maintain that comfortable medium even if the ideas being discussed bring out hostility in those who are discussing them, but ultimately without their presence some people will do whatever they want to whoever they want if they feel they can get away with it.

I shouldn't HAVE to cite examples for this in the same sense I shouldn't have to cite examples for the sky being blue, or a human needing water to survive.
