Couples of Reddit, what's the most unromantic thing that's happened between the two of you that actually is a stronger indication of love than others might think?

Middle of a rip roaring fight before we were married. We were screaming at each other so loudly we frightened my 150 lb dog, who knocked a 40oz glass of water on to my brand new iPhone.

My now husband stopped at looked at my now soaked $600 phone, bolted to the kitchen and came out with a bowl of rice. After powering off my phone and putting it in the bowl, he went to the dog and apologized for our angry yelling frightening him.

We fight much more maturely these days and he won my heart forever in that moment. Stupid angry, both of us behaving like children and he was able to step out of it and focus on shit that was important. Namely my sweet old man dog.

My dog loved him to the end. Five years married now and it’s the best decision I have ever made. He’s my partner through and through.
