Do you cover your hair with a headscarf? If yes when and why?

I'm a liberal catholic in the Northeast. Even through youth, though I did not always have one, I always sought one. As I grew toan adult, older ladies would say "you can't wear those at work, so I abstained--separating the religious symbol from work - until a few years prior, when I suffered a six month period of sexual harassment that culminated in workplace sexual assault, and from that instance onward, I could no longer abstain. I rarely wear anything but silk or silk squares with a triangular fold tied behind my head or under my chin. While practically, my scarves hold my hair, yet thy also bind me to a tradition older than known history; but they center around the Christian "Mary". What I wear are bright & shiny and deter attention away from my chest. I also wear the Turkish silk hijab style with under caps, but I usually only wear those styles during winter. I receive countless compliments--and speak of it only when asked--but many folks ask casually. I generally avoid discussing religious reasons unless needed for a workplace exception to an otherwise dress code violation. I will also state "that I a guided through my veil".
