got email from recruiter at large tech company that job is being put on hold indefinitely because of Corona-19. I'm devastated because these opportunities don't come along very often.

" In response to COVID-19 and we are placing the opportunity we’ve been talking about on pause for now. We value the time you’ve put in this process and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thanks so much for your patience and understanding. We’ll be sure to reach out to you when the role opens up again."

Even if the role opens up again in a few months they will just post it again. Anyway how is this response?

Is the job market really that bad right now? My current boss badmouthed me to a potential employer, resulting in an offer being rescinded. Do I address it with my current boss?
