Covid cases spike sharply in Germany since the start of the Oktoberfest celebrations

I never said we're going to beat it, we're not, and it is here to stay. I am saying we need to change the way we live accordingly. We cannot just pretend it isn't a thing.

And no, current strains are not as deadly as the OG strain, mainly due to vaccination rates, but there is also no guarantee that we're not going to see a more deadly strain mutate and hit us.

And you are right about the data in regards to deaths, but we also have more information in regards to long COVID, like 1 in 5 people who are infected will have it, and the spectrum of issues that it brings up are not insignificant. This is something that could happen with any individual infection, and you can be reinfected, multiple times even.

Personally I think death is preferable to living how some of the people with extreme long COVID have described their situation.

But I will say this, the tact that society has taken on this is in line with how you feel about things. You have a popular take. It is also a take that has ensured that I (and anyone around anyone that is high risk) have to continue to isolate from society at large and wear a mask in any social situation for the rest of our lives, and I will never be able to see eye to eye with, or even respect people who have put entertainment over safety like this. And I already know that you don't really care. It's obvious.
