COVID Megathread

We are superhosts who spotted some red flags on a 4th of July booking where we had reasonable fear that it could be a "COVID party". Underage guest, asking lots of weird questions, and at the very least didn't sound intent on social distancing.

After she booked and we realized they were underage, we contacted Airbnb immediately to cancel without penalty but their customer service is only people overseas with no authority to help. A case was opened but after a week they have yet to respond to us again.

We ended up cancelling 48 hours after the booking after no response from Airbnb because we wanted to both open our calendar up quickly and make sure the guest didn't make other plans around this trip.

Now Airbnb has blocked the dates and we can't book with a more legit group even though people are messaging us asking if the dates are open.

We are being penalized for preventing a potential COVID party. Is there anything we can do in the absence of any sense of service from Airbnb, aside from trying to book on VRBO or seeing if we can locate the Airbnb users that are messaging us off the platform?
