I think you are better off with a "radio", than an emergency multi jack of all trades device. Quality will usually be better.
I have not had good experiences with crank radios. You have to crank and crank for just a few minutes of sound. Radios are very low drain devices and a set of batteries will last a long time.
It makes sense to get a radio that uses the same type batteries (AA, D, C etc) as most of your other devices. For example, if you have nothing else that runs on D batteries, it doesn't make sense to get a radio that runs on them.
I like the old fashioned hand dials better than digital buttons. I feel I can better fine tune the reception.
No need to overthink it, something like this would be a good choice, IMO.
