"Crazy cat lady" shouldn't be a concept

I remember watching Extra History about Catherine the Great, not sure how accurate this is, but Catherine as a young girl was taken to some spinster home where a relative of hers lived where it smelt of cats and of course a bunch of lonely women. Assuming that this was a real thing, and it probably was knowing how women were treated for not following their gender role, then the concept of the "crazy cat lady" must of some very unfortunate historical basis. Not saying it's right but it's just an extension of how society pushes heteronormative ideas of an "ideal life" onto people. Men are affected by similar shaming as well, it's not the same but lonely men are often shown as toy collectors or momma's boys and of course, they are single. I'm not going to focus too much on the male side of things, since you are talking about women, but there are negative connotations to being a single man.

Really, shaming people for whatever choices they make is really nasty and doesn't help anyone be happy.
